Hello everyone,
The Church Health Center is a much smaller organization than the MED (for those who have volunteered there and know how it works) and it wants to deal with their volunteers more directly, which is a great service opportunity and gives more freedom in scheduling volunteering times.
Their motto states: “We at the Church Health Center believe we have a responsibility to take care of the bodies God gave us, so we have been committed from our beginning to health education and prevention.”
You do not need to be of a certain religion to volunteer and you will get lots of up close contact with the healthcare system in Memphis.
Please email me for more information or to sign up!

The Ronald McDonald House of Memphis is a “home away from home” for families who are in Memphis while their child is receiving treatment for cancer or another catastrophic illness at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All families stay completely free of Charge.

Hey Everyone!
My name is Allison Conn, and I am the Kinney Site Coordinator for LeBonheur Pediatric Hospital.
There are so many great opportunities for volunteering at LeBonheur from being a baby hugger to working in playrooms to shadowing doctors. If you think you might be interested in volunteering, you can follow the link to browse volunteer opportunites.
Please read all the requirements carefully to be sure that you have the time to give. LeBonheur requires that you give 3 hours a week for 6 months, although they are definitely willing to work with you, especially over summer and winter holidays if you are not from Memphis.
If you decide that volunteering is something you want to pursue, you can start the process by filling out the application on the site provided by the link, and then you will be contacted by volunteer services about attending an orientation. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, and if I don’t know the answer I will find out for you. Thanks!
- Allison Conn
Volunteer Appications Were due September 15th.
for further information on volunteering, contact Allie Elozory (grizzly house) or Kathryn Johnson (St. Jude)
A life crisis is never planned or scheduled. It comes suddenly, usually the accumulation of stressful circumstances. It might arrive in the form of heavy emotional pain, overwhelming sadness or a sense of hopelessness. It can result from big changes in life such as the loss of a loved one or a job, or from a seemingly endless series of smaller negative circumstances.
The Crisis Center’s purpose is to provide a listening ear when the world seems to have tuned out; to offer help when none seems available, and referral to resources when they are most needed. We offer support for anyone who needs a lifeline to hope.
Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, we answer the call.
If interested in being trained as a crisis responder, email Elizabeth Jeans (jeaeb@rhodes.edu)
**There will be some training, as well as a volunteer required schedule, but it is totally arranged around your schedule!
