Description: The purpose of Friends For Life Corporation is to help persons affected by HIV/AIDS live well. Our comprehensive, client-centered approach includes education, housing, food, transportation, healthcare and healthy life skills training. We strive to enlighten the Mid-South community in a manner that heightens awareness, facilitates acceptance and promotes prevention. Friends For Life (FFL) is the oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization in the Mid-South. The demand for the services of FFL continues to increase, with the agency now serving over 2,500 persons.

Volunteer Opportunities: There are a great variety of opportunities.  If you are fluent in Spanish, you could be utilized as a Spanish-speaking volunteer.

Volunteers can also help prepare and serve hot, nutritious dinners to clients and their caregivers on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from about 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Approximately 4,300 meals are served annually through this program. Feast For Friends is held at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Volunteers assist with planning and implementing special projects such as fundraising events and World AIDS Day events

Description: We will be watching the documentary “For The Bible Tells Me So”. After it is over, we will discuss current issues facing the GLBT community today. We will also talk about the current suicides that have occured over the past few months, and talk about how we can help spread awareness and stop the hate towards GBLT community!!

Description: Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center is a mechanism for change in the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to facilitate long-term positive growth in themselves and in the community of the Mid-South.

MGLCC works with youth who have been neglected by family members by supplying food, shelter, clothing, and emotional support. MGLCC also conducts free HIV testing through a partnership withFriends for Life and Planned Parenthood of Greater Memphis.

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteering at the MGLCC consist of greeting and welcoming guests who visit the center. You will also answer calls and help run the center smoothly. At a more committed level, you will have the opportunity of event-planning and of attending advocacy events.
