Site Description: Snowden Aftercare meets between 3-4 and is only a quick walk from Rhodes. You pick an age group that is K-5 and help them with their homework. Fridays they don’t have homework, so you’re more than welcome to just go over there and play with the kids! It’s a fun and more relaxed atmosphere where you can touch the lives of kids. They really become attached to you and will wonder where you are when you miss a week.

If you are interested in becoming a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) please contact Samantha Sipple (sipse@rhodes.edu). A CASA is a trained volunteer who advocates in juvenile court on behalf of abused and neglected children in front of a judge. Last year alone, more than 3,000 children entered the juvenile court justice system. Of those, nearly 700 were represented by a CASA volunteer. Volunteers work directly with the children and their families. Being a CASA, you will gain excellent experience in the legal and social work field.
***Volunteers must be 21 years of age.

We are in the process of creating a program at Central High School for Rhodes students to have a 2 year mentoring relationship with a high school student. This program is modeled after a service provided by STREETS ministy. You will be matched up with a sophomre or junior student and will help them with the college application process. Some of your responsibilities will include:
a 2- year commitment, SAT and ACT tutoring, essay proof reading and critiqing, going to workshops provided by the Rhodes Financial Aid and Admissions departments, helping your friend decide where the best fit for them is, helping find leadership and community service opportunities if your friend needs them, ect.
We would reall like to streanghen our partnership with Cental High School and increase the number of students who have access to a college education.
If you would like more information contact Carson Duffy (dufcs@rhodes.edu)
